Situated within an iconic block in Kenmore Square, this new office building both blends into its surrounding context and proclaims its contemporary nature. As the replacement of an older building that could no longer be salvaged, this intervention subtly takes the place of its predecessor. The limestone façade uses the original building’s tripartite division and follows the horizontal expression of its two neighbors. The two story high datum at grade and the cornice at the fifth floor are expressed with a more substantial gesture, in keeping with the spirit of the buildings around it. The detailing is held to a minimum as a statement of its current insertion into the square. A new upper level is delicately placed atop of the rest of the structure which fully benefits from the spectacular views in all directions.
